The Farmer Merchant Banquet, one of Rexburg’s most historical events, will take place on March 14, 2019, at 6 p.m.

Hosted by The Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce since 1939, the banquet strives to fulfill its goal of thanking and serving the farmers and businesses of Rexburg.

“People appreciate being rewarded for all they do in everyday life and for their community,” says Janet Miller, the event’s chairman of The Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce adding, “I think it makes them proud of their city, county, and being an Idahoan.”

Guests in attendance take part in a silent auction starting at 6:00 p.m. During this time a buffet dinner featuring prime rib will be served followed by a live auction.

The live auction includes items such as a chance in ICCU’s money machine, discounts to local businesses, and gift baskets.

However, the banquet does more than just auction off items; it also honors its citizens for the achievements they have accomplished.

“My favorite memories have been seeing how happy and honored people are when they get an award for all their hard work and patience in just doing their job,” adds Miller.

Some of the awards include Business of the Year,  Citizen of the Year, Farmer of the Year, Woman in Business and Leadership, and Medical Professional.

Citizens of Rexburg nominate individual they would like to see win awards.  Following the nominations, The Chamber Board of Directors elects the winners.

While auctions and awards are a few options the banquet offers, it stands to thank and inspire Rexburg citizens.

“The banquet shows that farmers, business people, homemakers, city, county and state officials can work together to have a safer and better community,” says Miller.

To those debating about still attending the banquet Miller has one word: come.

“Come have a good time, promote your business, enjoy a good meal, visit with old friends and make new ones.”

The Farmer Merchant Banquet will be taking place on March 14, 2019, at Madison High School from 5-9 p.m. Tickets cost $30 for individuals, $220 for a table of eight or, $300 for a table of twelve. If a business purchases a table, they have the option to decorate their table for the “Best Decorated Table award.” For more information call The Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce at 208-356-5700.
