Rexburg officially welcomed its second Wendy’s this past Friday in a well-received ribbon-cutting ceremony. Customers attended in droves, eager to obtain the free food and prizes offered that day.

The Rexburg Chamber of Commerce was pleased to take part in this exciting event and was able to sit down with co-owner Robert Pincock to find out more about what this new Wendy’s means to Rexburg.

“Todd Ricks and I have been looking at property for the last 20 years, and the time just finally came. We saw a development opportunity, and it just worked out,” says Pincock.

This newest Wendy’s is the second constructed in Rexburg. Its sister was built around 33 years ago and still resides in its current location at 545 North 2nd East.

“People thought that they were crazy to open a Wendy’s in Rexburg. But Rexburg has proven to be a great place.”

Those people everyone thought were crazy included Gary Archibald, Trent Siddoway, and Sherwood Ricks. Ricks was one of many people in attendance at the ribbon cutting.

“Many people will come out on this south side and realize that business in Rexburg is progressing,” said Ricks.

Ricks, who has been in Wendy’s business now for 34 years, has come to incorporate the principles of its founder, Dave Thomas.

“Dave Thomas was just the way you saw him,” said Ricks. “He was a great spokesman for this company and a great fellow. He was anxious that each crew performed the way he organized his first store.”

That way, according to Thomas, was that when people came they were getting a quality product, being treated respectfully, and would want to come back.

Pincock echo’s the principles taught to all Wendy’s employees by Thomas.

“Dave Thomas taught to be part of the community. If we take care of our customers, our customers will take care of us, so we want to have good service and be accurate.”

Because of these principles, both Wendy’s in Rexburg continue to put an emphasis on the community.

“We want to be part of the community,” said Pincock. “We do community nights for Rexburg and most other communities in East Idaho. We donated $17,000 to elementary schools with our community nights from last fall to December.”

As business continues to grow in Rexburg, citizens should be on the lookout for more Wendy’s to come in Southeastern Idaho.

“We are always looking to expand, staffing is always a challenge, but we have looked into other communities. Stay tuned, you might see something sooner or later.”

In addition, with the completion of its second Wendy’s, Rexburg citizens should also be expected to see new renovations come to the original Wendy’s.

“We are planning on making renovations to the other Wendy’s in the next year to two years as the lease comes up,” said Pincock.

Above all, Pincock and the entire Wendy’s staff are grateful to have another Wendy’s here in Rexburg.

“We appreciate the support for the past 30 plus years for Wendy’s and our franchise. We love Wendy’s, and we love Rexburg.”
